Biography


  

Dr. Daniel Sperling is Distinguished Blue Planet Prize Professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science and Policy, and founding Director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis. He received the 2024 Lifetime Research and Education award from the US Council of University Transportation Centers, was inducted into the US National Academy of Engineering in 2022, won the 2018 Roy W. Crum award by the Transportation Research Board of the US National Academies in 2015-16, TRB, its highest research award, won the 2013 Blue Planet Prize from the Asahi Glass Foundation, and has authored or co-authored over 250 technical papers and 13 books, including Three Revolutions (Island Press, 2018) and Two Billion Cars (Oxford University Press, 2009). He serves on the International Advisory Board of EV100 (China) and was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger and following California governors to the transportation seat of the California Air Resources Board from 2007-2023.
