The Founding Conference of College of Transportation Engineering of Chang'an University was Held

Morning of April 18, 2020, the founding conference of the College of Transportation Engineering of Chang'an University was held in a combination of online and offline methods. The main offline venue is located in the Academic Exchange Center of Chang'an University South Campus. The online branch venue adopts Tencent video conference format, and the whole ceremony is broadcast live. Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Usur Slam, Zhou Wei, who is former chief engineer of the Ministry of Transportion；Chen Jun, Dean of Transportation College of Southeast University；Shang Guansu, chairman of the Traffic Engineering and Information Technology Branch of China Highway Society, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of China Highway Engineering Consulting Group and all the university leaders attended the ceremony. Vice President Wang Jianwei presided over the meeting.

Biao Xiaohong, deputy secretary and vice president of Chang’an University’s party committee, introduced the background of the establishment of College of Transportation Engineering and announced the establishment documents of the college. Professor Chen Feng, secretary of party committee of Chang’an University, and Professor Sha Aimin, the principal, unveiled the College of Transportation Engineering.

Opening Ceremony

In his speech, Sha Aimin pointed out that the establishment of the College of Transportation Engineering is a strategic choice for the university to actively adapt to the national strategy of building a “transportation power” and to serve the regional economic and social development. It is an important measure to implement the overall idea of "shut down and transfer, optimize and adjust". It is a key measure to further improve the development layout of the university’s first-level discipline of transportation engineering and the second-level discipline of transportation planning and management. Besides, it promotes the high-quality development of "Double First Class" construction. This signifies that Chang'an University’s transportation and transportation disciplines must reorganize, plan new development and write a new chapter.

Sha Aimin raised four hopes for the development of the College of Transportation Engineering. Firstly, "Focus on Lide to foster people, and firm the direction of running a university"; Secondly，"Determine the goal of struggle and stick to the direction to lead"；Thirdly，"Comprehensively deepen reforms and highlight connotative development"；Fourthly，"Proactively seek business and create a new chapter of development".

Academician Usur Slam expressed his congratulations on the establishment of the College of Transportation Engineering of Chang'an University. He expected that the College will seize the historical opportunity of change, gather resource advantages, break through core technologies, and seize the high ground for the development of the transportation industry. At the same time, He wished that Chang'an University would take the establishment of the College of Transportation Engineering as a new starting point, continue to carry forward the university motto of "Promoting Perseverance, Learning and Innovation", and build a world-class university as soon as possible.

Professor Chen Jun and Chairman Shangguan Su delivered speeches on behalf of alumni at home and abroad. Yuan Changwei, Dean of the College, Professor Yan Baojie,the representative of the professors, and Professor Chen Hong, the representative of the teachers, respectively delivered speeches to express their congratulations and heartfelt blessings for the establishment of theCollege.

Subsequently, Vice President He Shuanhai announced the establishment of the "Development Strategy Advisory Committee of the College of Transportation Engineering". He read out the duties of the committee, the list of members and introduced the basic situation of the chairman, Professor Zhou Wei， Vice President Wang Jianwei announced the establishment of the "Yan Baojie Foundation" .Besides, he introduced the background and committee status of the foundation.

In his speech, Professor Zhou Wei said that he would work with other committee members to provide supports for the college’s personnel training, discipline development and scientific research breakthroughs in transportation policy analysis, trend interpretation, and sharing of leading technology resources. He put forward the goal of building a more influential and world-class innovative college.
